Hypothetically Speaking: Vocational Expert Testimony in Social Security Cases is a half day seminar directed to Social Security Representatives from a Vocational Expert viewpoint. The seminar lays a foundation of understanding Social Security law as it pertains to the vocational matters. The objective is to educate the representative so that s/he may be better able to:
:: Understand the vocational regulations,
:: Understand the technical language and concepts used in the vocational field,
:: Apply the concepts of the vocational field to the regulations,
:: Develop awareness of vocational areas to explore that will further the case,
:: Learn how to question the VE s data, methodology, opinions and conclusions,
:: Learn how to ask hypothetical questions that will get a “no jobs” response.
Social Security law provides a referent point for vocational forensic work in multiple venues, not just Social Security. Understanding its principles, methodologies and techniques is useful for attorneys who practice in fields related to vocational economic damages, such as Personal Injury, Workers’ Compensation, Employment Law, Divorce, Long Term Disability and Medical Malpractice. This seminar is very useful to any attorney who practices in these areas of law.
